Frequently asked questions
Where do we meet?
Waikato mountain bike coaching
You will meet your coach, Simon or Nicole at these locations.
Te miro meeting point - 684 Waterworks Road, Main carpark (BBQ Table over looking the lake)
Pirongia meeting point - Top of Sainsbury Road, Main Car Park (Not the Overflow Carpark)
Do I need to be fit?
Our Sessions/Clinics are designed to focus on skill development not physical fitness. At a minimum, participants should be able to comfortably complete a 1 hour moderate mountain bike ride. For example a client may be required to pedal up to 'Gobblers Knob' during a beginners session at Te Miro or ride to the top of the gravel road/start of 'The Sourer' during an intermediate session at Pirongia.
Can caregivers stay with the group during a YOUTH Session?
Our youth sessions are designed to help young riders build skills, confidence, and a love for mountain biking in a fun and supportive environment.
Caregivers are welcome to shadow the 2-hour session if they wish. To join in, caregivers must provide:
A well-maintained, fit-for-purpose bike
A correctly fitting, damage-free cycling helmet
Suitable clothing for the expected conditions
Covered shoes appropriate for riding
We love to see our youth athletes supported by their families, and having caregivers alongside can be a great way to help riders feel confident within the group.
What do i need to bring?
All clients must provide a well maintained and fit for purpose bike. A good fitting and free from damage cycling helmet, suitable clothing for the expected conditions and suitable covered shoes. Clients are advised to bring enough snacks and hydration to last the duration of the session.
Would this clinic suit me?
We aim to market our group clinics and sessions toward specific abilities and skill levels. Each session will have a clear focus, targeting particular areas for development.
If you feel the session description aligns with your needs and you’re looking to improve in that area, then you’re the perfect fit. Remember, everyone attending is there to learn and grow—no matter their starting point.
If you need further clarification or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
I have an E-bike can I still attend?
Yes. We believe E-bikes are awesome and we love to see people enjoying this awesome sport. We currently do not offer E-bike specific Clinics.
What if the weather is poor?
Weather-Related Cancellations: If severe weather conditions, such as high winds or thunderstorms, are forecasted, we reserve the right to reschedule the session to ensure safety.
Other Adverse Weather Conditions: If we assess that other weather conditions pose a risk, we may choose to reschedule the session.
